The warning klaxons were blaring at Stargate Command in Cheyenne Mountain when the gate was activated. Stepping from the wormhole were the members of SG-1 (Col. Jack O'Neill, Dr. Daniel Jackson, Major Samantha Carter, and Teal'c) with their hands behind their heads. Following close behind were some men in primitive islander garb pointing spears at the SG team. Another two islanders were seen carrying large sacks.
After Col. O'Neill instructed the soldiers by the gate to stand down and lower their weapons, the leader of the islander group approached General George Hammond (commander of the SGC) as the two men lowered their sacks.
"As promised," said the chief of the islanders, "we have returned your people. We are a civilized group or we would have killed them on the spot for what they did."
"I thank you for returning them." replied Gen. Hammond. "What's with the sacks?"
"The sacks contain your team's weapons and equipment. We've sent all of it back except for that big thing that moves on its own. We are not thieves." The chief gave an order and the sacks were carefully emptied.
Hammond then asked the chief, "Since you seem like a reasonable man, let us negotiate and see if we can settle this problem. I would like to have a peaceful relationship with your world and hopefully my people can mine that special rock on your island."
The chief answered, "You, General, seem to be a reasonable man. I will negotiate, though I doubt we can come to any agreement since your people sickened Fishbringer. Your agreements won't send fish to our fishermen."
The other islanders left back through the stargate as the chief headed to a meeting room with Hammond and the SG-1 team.
At the meeting, Hammond asked "How did our people hurt your Fishbringer? I don't recall them doing anything hostile over there."
"That's what I asked them!" interrupted Col. O'Neill.
The chief responded "General, how do you put up with that man?"
"Well, he can be a bit of a trial at times, but he has brought results in the past. As you were about to explain..."
"Yes. True, your team did nothing hostile. They were interested in those poisonous rocks because they contained something called 'nah...' whatever. But shortly after they arrived, Fishbringer became very weak and ill. The two events must be related. Your people may seem nice, but have a bad influence. Therefore, I demand that you make that thing of yours move back to this location. Then I will return and my people will bury the gate and you will never trouble us again."
Before Hammond could respond, Dr. Janet Frasier entered the room with some reports. She was dressed in her standard uniform with a white lab coat as well as a dark blue knee-length uniform skirt. Frasier then sat down at a vacant seat at the table.
"General, I have the reports on SG-1's last checkup. They were disease-free. There was no way they could have made anyone sick."
The chief noticed Dr. Frasier and asked Hammond, "Who is this woman?"
Hammond answered "She is Dr. Janet Frasier and she is responsible for all the medical work on the base."
Turning to Dr. Frasier, the chief asked "Are you a healer?"
Dr. Frasier responded, "You could say that. If someone here gets sick or hurt, I help them get better. I'm not perfect, but I think I do a pretty good job at that."
The chief thought for a second and stated, "General, there might be a way to redeem your people. If Dr. Frasier can cure Fishbringer, we can then negotiate with you."
Hammond responded "Sounds good to me. Dr. Frasier, get kitted up and ready to go."
The chief bellowed "No time. She must come now!"
As Dr. Frasier was glancing down at her uniform, Major Carter said "Don't worry. It's warm over there."
Hammond then called on the intercom and asked that a medical kit be brought to the gate room. The meeting was dismissed and everyone went to the gate room.
The gate was reactivated and Dr. Frasier took her kit. As she and the chief walked towards the gate, the SG-1 team followed, assuming they would be coming too. The chief turned and yelled. "You stay here! You've done enough damage! We are only allowing Dr. Frasier to come with us."
"I'll be fine!" Dr. Frasier told SG-1 reassuringly.
Then the two stepped through the gate and arrived on the alien planet.
"You can stop gripping my hand." Dr. Frasier said. "We're through the gate now. Yes, I know gate travel can be a little unsettling, but it isn't scary."
"Sorry." the chief replied.
"Just one thing to take care of first." Frasier mentioned. With that, she walked up to the front of the MALP (the remote-controlled recon robot) and informed General Hammond that she arrived safely.
"Very good. Check in tomorrow or when you finish, if that's sooner."
"Will do." The gate then deactivated.
The chief stared at the MALP, wondering what it was. Then he asked "How come that thing talked like General Hammond?"
"Because that was General Hammond's voice." The MALP - this object here - is just a machine. It isn't alive. It's made out of metal. The voice was General Hammond talking into a device which sent his voice to a speaker on the MALP. The MALP moves because of motors controlled by someone at the base. Go ahead, touch it."
The chief tentatively touched the MALP. Nothing happened. "I see, not so scary after all..." he said.
"Even though many of our things seem magical," Dr. Frasier explained, "they're not. There are rational explanations. Now, there is this group of bad people called the Goa'uld. They use things people like you don't understand to trick them into believing the Goa'uld are gods. But we won't try to trick you. Now, where is this 'Fishbringer' individual?"
"Come with me." answered the chief.
A walk of a few minutes took the pair to the village. It looked like a primitive Hawaiian village from a movie. "Which hut is the patient in?" asked Dr. Frasier.
"Fishbringer doesn't live in a hut. We will soon be where he is." The chief motioned and two men came and followed them.
After walking several hundred yards on the beach, they stopped. The chief pointed out to a spot in the water and said "There is Fishbringer. He has been listless and weak since your people showed up. Hopefully you can cure him."
Dr. Frasier was scanning the spot, about fifty feet offshore. Then, she saw what the chief called Fishbringer. It was a whale-like creature, as long as the trailer of a tractor trailer rig. As she was planning what to do next, the chief said "I have things to take care of. These two will assist you. I wish you luck."
As the chief walked away, Dr. Frasier glanced at her uniform, then at the two islanders. "Damn! Why couldn't they be non-humanoids?" thought Dr. Frasier. If they weren't humanoid, she thought, she could simply strip and do all the in-water work au naturel. No big deal. But, since these were two human males with her, that option was out of the question.
Figuring that there was no other way to do it, Dr. Frasier proceeded to remove her rank pins from her uniform (she didn't want any sharp metal edges on her when she worked with Fishbringer). Then she removed her shoes. She considered removing her white lab coat, but decided to keep it on in case her uniform top and undershirt became translucent in the water.
The two men who had been quiet all this time, noticed Dr. Frasier's feet. One of them asked, "Are your feet okay? It looks like there's some stuff on them?"
"Oh," Dr. Frasier answered, "they are normal. What you noticed is my pantyhose."
"What?" asked the islander.
"Pantyhose. A kind of leg covering women on my planet frequently wear when they wear a skirt. Now, Major Carter usually wears pants, so she didn't wear pantyhose when she was here. Since you are probably wondering, the answer is this high." With that, Dr. Frasier put her hand at her waist.
Handing the pins to one of the islanders, Dr. Frasier explained "Take these. I will also hand you a piece of paper. If anything happens to me, take them through the stargate and give them to General Hammond. That way, he won't think you did anything to me." Then she scribbled a quick note and handed it to the man. He put the items in a safe place and stood ready to assist Dr. Frasier.
Dr. Frasier then walked to the water. Putting her feet in, she was pleasantly surprised by how warm the ocean was. A few more steps and the water was up to her knees. Then the next step soaked the hem of her skirt. Once over the initial shock, it felt delightfully naughty. She continued wading out further, the water climbing higher on her skirt and the skirt slowly rising.
She approached a slight drop-off. The water was now only up to the middle of her thighs, but the next step would take her in up to her waist. After a second of hesitation, she took the step. The sensation was amazing and quite pleasant. Her lab coat was starting to trail behind her. A few more steps and the water was up to her chest. It felt wonderful. Dr. Frasier had to work a little to conceal the emotions she was experiencing. She also hoped her two assistants weren't getting turned on by the view. It could be embarassing and troublesome if they did.
Finally, she got to where she could not touch the bottom. Dr. Frasier then swam out to the whale to begin her work. As she was swimming, the sensation of the water moving in and around her clothing was incredible. She wished she had done something like this sooner.
After a short swim, Dr. Frasier and the two islanders were by the creature called "Fishbringer". The creature appeared listless and hardly noticed the visitors.
Turning to one of the islanders, Dr. Frasier asked "Can you tell me what happened with Fishbringer?"
"Well, Doctor," the man responded, "The day your friends stopped by, he stopped eating and began to grow weak. We thought it was nothing at first, but he grew weaker. Soon, he got to this spot in the shallows. You have to help him! He sends the fish into our nets!"
"Relax," replied Dr. Frasier. "I will do what I can... what is your name?"
"Anno" replied the islander. "My friend over there is Kona."
"And you can call me Janet. After all, treading water in the ocean isn't formal, so we don't have to be."
Janet then swam over to Fishbringer and touched him. The skin seemed okay. Then, Janet started swimming around the whale, all the time looking for wounds, lesions, abnormal growths, anything out of the ordinary. Fishbringer turned out to be in good shape externally, even better than many of his terrestrial counterparts which had white growths on them.
All the while, Janet was savoring the feelings and sensations of swimming in the warm ocean in her uniform. If Anno and Kona were turned on by the sight, they did a good job of concealing it - something very difficult given the wrap-style garments they wore.
"Guys," Janet said, "It seems that your friend here has nothing wrong with him on the outside. Did you see anyone go near him?"
"No." replied Kona. "Your people didn't even go near the beach. They were interested in those rocks. The closest they ever came was when they visited the chief."
Janet then said "Now, what does that tell you?"
Anno answered "That means your people had nothing to do with it."
Janet responded "Correct. What is causing Fishbringer's problem is something natural. We just have to find out what it is. I have an idea. Can you people communicate with Fishbringer? Get him to do something?"
Kona replied "Yes. We can get him to do some simple things. But he has to want to do them."
"Good enough for me." said Janet. "Get him to open his mouth wide. I'm going to check him out."
Kona uttered some words and made a gesture. Fishbringer complied and opened his enormous mouth wide. After seeing there was enough room for what she wanted to do, Janet took a deep breath and went under.
With her light brown hair streaming behind, Janet went inside the mouth of Fishbringer. Looking around, she saw what looked like serrated railroad spikes - Fishbringer's teeth. Janet almost gulped as she realized that this creature could cut off an arm or a leg with no effort. Finally, in the dim light from the outside, Janet saw something significant.
Where Janet thought the throat should be, she saw a large black object. A careful touch of the object revealed that it was part of a log. Evidently, while Fishbringer was eating, a piece of driftwood got into his mouth and lodged in his throat, keeping him from eating. It was apparently wedged in tight since that muscular tongue was unable to dislodge it.
Carefully exiting the mouth, Janet surfaced. Getting her hair out of her face, she announced "I believe I have found the trouble. There is a piece of driftwood lodged in his throat. It's stuck, but I think we can get it out. Anno, go to the village and find a rope. Kona, you can tell Fishbringer to close his mouth. No need for him to hold it open while we wait."
Anno swam back to shore and headed for the village. Meanwhile, Janet was actually starting to admire how she looked in the water. Her skirt was now bobbing a few inches higher and revealed more of her lovely legs. Most of the men at the SGC would agree that she had somewhat nicer and shapelier legs than Major Carter, but they wouldn't say it publicly. Her lab coat was more like a cape as it floated behind her. Glancing down, she was glad she was wearing an undershirt. If she wasn't her bra would have been quite visible through her now translucent blouse.
A short while later, Anno returned with a rope. After checking the rope and seeing that it was long enough for her plan, Janet explained "Here is what we're going to do. After we get Fishbringer to open his mouth again, I'm going to dive down and tie the rope around the log. Then, you two are to start pulling gradually. I will help gradually work it loose. That should be enough to remove it and Fishbringer will be back to normal."
The islanders got Fishbringer to open his mouth. Janet grabbed the rope, took a deep breath, and dove down. She then got inside Fishbringer's mouth.
Once inside, Janet wasted no time in tying the rope around the log. The irregular surface of the log made the task much easier. Once this was done, Janet gave two tugs on the line (the agreed-upon signal) and her assistants began gently pulling as she tried to gently loosen it.
Fortunately for Janet, Fishbringer seemed to sense that all this was being done to help him. After a few seconds more of effort, the log was clear and quickly pulled out.
A few seconds after the log was removed, and before Janet could do anything, Fishbringer's mouth snapped shut and all was dark. Since she felt no pain, she knew that creature's teeth didn't touch her. But she was still trapped. Then, things got worse.
Janet noticed that Fishbringer was moving, very rapidly. As she was trying to keep from being Fishbringer's next throat obstruction, Janet was trying to figure out how to escape before she ran out of air. Out of desperation, she had an idea.
Even though, she seemed restrained by something, Janet got into position and used her foot to tickle the roof of Fishbringer's mouth. This had the desired effect and she was pushed out into the sea by Fishbringer's tongue.
But Janet's problems weren't over yet. When Fishbringer closed his mouth, his teeth went right through the trailing portion of Janet's lab coat. Now, she was trapped by it as Fishbringer began diving deep for food. With a strength that comes from facing imminent death, Janet ripped the offending garment off and tore it from Fishbringer's mouth before he could choke on it.
As she let the torn lab coat go and sink into the depths, Janet began to swim to the surface. But her air was almost exhausted. It would be a matter of seconds before her drowning would begin. Unable to contain it any longer, Janet released the stale air from her lungs.
But, before she could inhale anything, she felt something that she couldn't be sure of. However, instead of water filling her lungs, she was gasping loudly at the surface.
As she was trying to resume normal breathing, Janet noticed she was resting against something. A quick touch told her it wasn't a sandbar or gravel bank. It felt more like an inner tube. Then it dawned on her. It was Fishbringer. Evidently he sensed that she was in trouble and raised her to the surface.
"Thank you, big guy!" Janet exclaimed as she patted Fishbringer. Fishbringer responded by a low frequency sonar pulse. The frequency was just right to resonate inside Janet's body, producing a curious, but very pleasant and arousing sensation. "Stop it!" Janet called out playfully. "You might embarass me!"
Fishbringer seemed to keep a close watch on Janet, wanting to make sure she was all right. Janet was astounded. This big creature which could injure or kill her with only a tiny effort was treating her very gently. She then decided to start swimming for shore. The beach was almost a mile away, but Janet believed she could make it. A few seconds after she started swimming, Fishbringer made a gesture to her. It was apparent that Fishbringer wanted Janet to climb on his back.
Surprised at the offer, Janet said "A ride sounds like a very good idea now." She then swam over to Fishbringer and tried to get on his back - not an easy task since the creature had no pronounced dorsal fins. Also complicating matters was that Janet was unable to straddle the creature's back, even though she was trying to get on a narrow portion to the rear. After a few seconds of study, Janet concluded that her skirt was the problem, since it was kind of narrow. She tried hiking it up, but it soon fell back down. And discarding it completely was not an option since she would have to go back to the village when she got ashore. However, there was one solution that could work.
Glancing down at her skirt, she noticed the tiny slit in the rear. Janet undid her skirt slightly and rotated it so the slit was now facing the side. She did up the skirt and grabbed the hem on both sides of the slit. She hesitated for second, but realized that being in Fishbringer's mouth and being out in the ocean probably ruined the garment anyway. Besides, even if her clothes were completely ruined, it would be one of the cheaper exploits of the SGC. Most of the time, the SG teams lost guns and other expensive equipment. So, she gave a sharp pull. No visible result. Another series of pulls ripped the slit up to the top of her thigh. With her legs now much freer to move, Janet got onto Fishbringer for the trip back.
Fishbringer covered most of the distance in a few minutes. Evidently, he was swimming a little slower so Janet wouldn't be knocked off. As they were nearing the shore, Janet noticed a canoe (similar to those used by the Polynesians) heading her way. She gestured for Fishbringer to stop, then dove off his back in a perfect racing dive in the direction of the canoe. Janet proceeded to swim a short distance and was helped aboard the canoe.
When Janet returned to shore, there was a group of villagers waiting. As she stepped onto the beach, she was greeted by wild applause. "You did it!" yelled the chief. "And Fishbringer has honored you, as will we! You have redeemed the reputation of your people."
Janet just stood there silently, almost blushing since she was standing before them soaked to the skin in a torn skirt. Her shirt was untucked and her hair was slicked back. A few huge runs were visible in her pantyhose, evidently from when she got on the canoe. She thought she looked a mess.
Regaining some composure, Janet turned to the chief and asked "Is there anywhere I can rinse off the salt water? Then, I'd like to get some rest."
The chief responded "Please call me Ameha. Fishbringer considers you a trusted friend. This is the first time we have ever seen anyone being carried on his back. As for your question, follow me."
Ameha and Janet walked a distance inland from the village. "Will this do?" asked Ameha. They stood by a waterfall which fed a freshwater lake. It was a beautiful place.
"Yes!" answered Janet. "It's lovely." Ameha motioned Janet to follow him into the lake. They both waded in. After Janet had to make a short swim across the middle (that part of the lake was too deep for someone as short as she was to wade across), they approached the waterfall. The water was shallow, only about waist-deep on Janet, and they stood under the cascade.
Stepping behind the curtain of falling water, Ameha told Janet, "I want to thank you for all you did today. Fishbringer performs a vital service by sending fish into our nets."
"You're welcome." Janet replied. "Just doing my job."
"Would you mind..." asked Ameha. Janet just gave an approving gesture, not totally sure what Ameha wanted. The chief put his arms around Janet and began to kiss her. Janet initially thought about resisting, but realized that Ameha wasn't some lust-crazed nut, but honestly felt affection for her. Janet then responded in kind. It had been years since any man shown affection to her and Janet almost forgot how enjoyable it was. They stepped a little to the side and were back under the waterfall. A few seconds later, they lost their footing and slipped. Almost instantly, they surfaced, laughing like crazy.
Indicating she wanted to leave, Janet left the lake with Ameha close behind. As they were returning to the village, Janet stopped and said "The MALP!"
"What?" asked Ameha.
"That machine by the stargate. I have to report back to the base soon or they will start to think something happened to me. But, I can't stand in front of the MALP camera looking like this. I look a mess!"
"No you don't. I think you are very beautiful."
"All the more reason. Can you imagine how the guys at base would react? I have to work with those people."
"I see. I think I have an idea."
Soon, Janet was at the MALP site, ready to activate the gate and send a message. Ameha came and was carrying a small bowl and a spoon. "How is that going to help?" she asked.
"Watch." replied Ameha. With a flick of the spoon, he splattered a thick white semi-liquid squarely on the MALP's camera lens. "If anyone at your base asks, say it is just bird droppings."
"I get it. Very clever." Janet then activated the gate and stood near the microphone.
"Frasier to base" Janet said.
"Good to hear from you." General Hammond replied over the speaker. "Were you able to cure the patient?"
"Yes. It was simpler than I thought. However, I will have to stick around for a few days to see how he is doing."
"Understood. How come we are getting a dark blob on the MALP video telemetry?"
"General, a bird took a dump right above the MALP. We'll have it cleaned up by the time I'm ready to go home."
"Good job. Hammond out." The gate deactivated and the MALP shut down.
That task accomplished, Ameha and Janet walked back towards the village.
When they arrived at the village, Ameha took Janet to one of the huts. "This hut is for you." Ameha said. "Get some rest. We will be having a feast in your honor tonight."
"Thanks." Janet replied, then she entered the hut.
The hut wasn't really luxurious, but it was less primitive than she expected. The interior was like the huts on the old "Gilligan's Island" show, complete with a hammock. On the hammock was a large piece of material. Janet instantly identified it as some kind of sarong, the same as worn by the women of the village. Before she could do anything else, there was a knock at the door.
Answering it, Janet discovered it was one of the women from the village. "Thank you for saving Fishbringer!" the woman said. "I can wash that outfit for you. Make it nice and clean."
Janet was impressed by the generosity. But, she realized that if she just let it dry, it might be salvageable (except for the torn skirt). If she let them try to launder it, it would be ruined. Her uniform was not meant to be washed under primitive conditions. However, if she turned down the generosity, it might offend the villagers. Figuring that good relations with these people was worth far more than her uniform, Janet agreed - partially. She would let the women clean the skirt and blouse, but she would hang her undergarments to dry in the hut. "Okay." Janet told the woman. Getting out of view of the woman, she quickly removed her blouse and skirt and reached over to hand them to the woman (all the woman saw was Janet's arm).
After the woman left, Janet removed and discarded her ruined pantyhose and hung the rest of her stuff to dry. Then she got in the hammock and put the sarong over her, mostly for modesty, since the air was perfect temperature and a soft breeze was blowing through the window. Janet soon dozed off.
A few hours later, Janet awoke. She had to get ready for the feast in her honor. The perennial question that women have pondered prior to social events surfaced again - what to wear? Janet thought the way the local women wore their sarongs was a bit too daring for her. Her blouse and skirt were not back yet. Then, she had an idea. She put on her now-dry undergarments. Then she put on the undershirt as sort of a blouse. Folding the sarong to increase it's thickness (and to make it more opaque), she then wore it as a wrap-style skirt with the hem a few inches above her knees. Her improvised fashion looked pretty good. Now, it was off to the dinner.
The dinner was a great success. The food was delicious. A few hours later, as the dinner came to a close, Janet turned to Ameha and commented, "This is a beautiful place."
Ameha replied, "It is. I am glad you enjoy it."
"I do. I also feel we must protect it."
"Protect it from what?" Ameha asked.
"If we aren't careful, my people might try to change things. I enjoyed the places, like the waterfall, that you shown me. But I don't want everyone running all over them. I like them the way they are."
"I understand, Janet. What do you have in mind?"
"I propose that we limit the visitors to this island to just extracting the rocks. Only people who are invited will be allowed to visit the village."
"I like that idea. It's been a long day. Good night." With that, Ameha gave Janet a kiss. Then, they went back to their respective huts.
When she got up the next morning, Janet discovered that her uniform was waiting for her. She also found that the primitive washing techniques managed to remove the buttons from the blouse. "Oh well," Janet thought. "But it was worth it."
Dressing up the same way she did for the feast, Janet left the hut. Her task for the day was to locate Fishbringer and see how he was doing. She knew that he was probably doing fine, but she wanted to make sure. Walking along the beach, some distance from the village, Janet looked out to ocean to look for any sign of Fishbringer's presence. Some time later, her persistence was rewarded when she saw a dark form surface in the distance.
Janet yelled "Fishbringer! It's me!" Fishbringer had excellent hearing and a good memory to match. He swam closer to shore, coming to a stop about 200 feet out.
Janet considered swimming out to Fishbringer as she was, but she decided to try something a little different. She removed her undershirt and sarong skirt. "Well," Janet thought, "since my bra and panties look like a bikini, they should work like one too." After putting her shirt and skirt in a safe place, Janet entered the water and swam out to Fishbringer.
Soon, Janet reached Fishbringer's location. As she was treading water, she noticed that her undergarments were still opaque, not translucent as she was half-dreading. "Too bad, I didn't know this yesterday." she thought. "Would have saved my uniform." She also realized that she didn't have to go out and buy swimwear (which might draw the attention of the people on base) for any future visits to this world.
Fishbringer noticed Janet's presence and gave what sounded like a low frequency rumble. Evidently it was a friendly greeting. "Now, big guy," Janet said, "I have to see how your throat is healing. It will only take a few seconds. Also, let me get out this time before you close your mouth." She then repeated the gestures the islanders did yesterday to get Fishbringer to open his mouth. When Fishbringer did, Janet took a deep breath and dove down.
Feeling more confident than she did a day before, Janet swam inside and looked. Though her vision was a bit blurry underwater, she could see that the irritation was healing faster than she thought it would. Satisfied, Janet quickly swam out and surfaced.
"You're doing quite well." Janet told Fishbringer. "You should be back to normal by tomorrow." A few seconds later, Fishbringer submerged. He then almost immediately surfaced directly under Janet, lifting her out of the water.
"So you want to play, huh?" Janet commented. Then she jumped back in the water. Soon she was playing in the ocean with this enormous creature. Yet, despite his enormous bulk, Fishbringer was quite gentle and delicate in his play. Janet was having a great time. It was more fun than she had in years.
Then, Fishbringer stopped his activities and emitted a very low frequency sound, which was more felt than heard. Janet wondered what that was for. Her question was answered in a few minutes when other dark forms appeared. At first, Janet was concerned that they might be some kind of shark, but her fear soon proved groundless. The dark forms were others of Fishbringer's species. The water was soon filled with low frequency sounds of several kinds. Evidently Fishbringer was introducing Janet to his friends. Then the other creatures swam over to Janet, scanned her, then proceeded to play.
Soon, Janet started to get tired. The creatures could sense it too, and they started leaving. Fishbringer swam with Janet, escorting her to shore. Three-quarters of the way back, Janet spotted Ameha on the beach. She waved to him and he entered the water to meet her.
After they exchanged a greeting kiss, Ameha asked "What's this outfit?"
At first, Janet was embarassed, but she quickly realized that the bikinis she wore to public beaches in her college days showed much more skin than what she had on now. "Oh, this?" she answered, "It's something I had on under my uniform."
"Why didn't you swim like this yesterday?"
Janet calmly replied "Two reasons. First, I was afraid that this would become see-through. I didn't know it wouldn't. So, I figured the uniform would keep me covered properly. Secondly, I was afraid of getting my two helpers too excited."
Ameha commented "You had nothing to fear from Anno and Kona. I told them you were under my protection. If they had done anything improper to you, they would have been severely punished. But, they are good men, so they would not have bothered you anyway."
"Thank you." replied Janet. "By the way, Fishbringer is doing fine. In fact, he is healing faster than I thought."
"Well he did have a good healer."
"You're sweet!" said Janet. Then, she and Ameha started playing underwater. Janet was amazed at how Ameha's garment didn't seem to move at all while they were swimming.
A short time later, the couple exited the sea and rinsed off under the waterfall. After drying out, they returned to the village for dinner.
While enjoying dinner, the local shaman wanted to speak to Janet. Janet was a bit apprehensive. She had read lots of stories where a doctor visiting a primitive village is perceived as competition by the local shaman and is treated with hostility. But, this shaman was quite friendly and expressed an interest in learning more about medicine. Janet gave him a few tips and promised to teach him more on future visits.
Several hours later, Janet went to bed. Tomorrow, she would return to Earth. This made her a bit restless, as did the moonlight from two moons shining into the hut. Then, Janet had an idea. After a quick look around the village to satisfy herself that everyone was asleep, she headed for a secluded section of beach and took a moonlit swim. As compared to her other outings, this was a rather traditional-style moonlit swim except that there were two moons. But she got used to that quickly and enjoyed the experience. A short time later, she exited the water and returned to the hut unseen.
The next morning, Janet awoke and got dressed. Putting on the uniform blouse, she decided to tie it shut, since the buttons were gone. To her surprise, Janet discovered that her skirt shrank somewhat. The long slit she tore in it kept it from being too tight, but the hem was about three inches shorter. She then reattached her rank pins and put on her shoes.
After leaving the hut and getting a sack from the natives, Janet then got some of the naquita ore and put it in the sack. The sack was then placed on the MALP. Once the gate was activated, Janet, Ameha, and the MALP entered and arrived at the SGC on Earth.
General Hammond and the SG-1 team were waiting for them. As soon as they arrived, General Hammond asked "What happened to your uniform? It's a disgrace!"
Before Ameha could rebuke Hammond for that remark, Janet answered, "Damaged while I was curing Fishbringer, Sir. But I think you'll find what is in the bag on the MALP to be worth the destruction of my uniform."
Hammond walked over, took the bag, and pulled out a chunk of ore. "You're right about that, Doctor! Good job." All the while, Daniel Jackson was trying to be discreet while not taking his eyes off Janet. He never saw that much of her before. Jack O'Neill seemed to notice Janet's appearance, but seemed to be containing himself. Whether that was out of being a gentleman or due to the fact that Major Carter was also there couldn't be determined. Teal'c had no reaction whatsoever. He was dedicated to doing his duty and nothing could distract him. Major Carter was curious, especially seeing how happy Janet looked, about what went on during that mission.
Janet announced "I think Ameha, the chief, wants to discuss some matters concerning the ore." Hammond then ordered everyone to the conference room.
At the meeting, Ameha stated "After discussion with Janet... I mean Dr. Frasier, I have decided to allow your people to take the ore - but under certain conditions."
"Which are?" Hammond asked.
"First, your mining operation is limited to removing the rocks. Nothing more. All processing is to be done off the planet."
"We can live with that." replied Hammond.
"Second, try not to make a mess of the area."
"Okay."
"Also, none of the mining crews are to go to the village or beach unless we invite them. Dr. Frasier told us how disruptive too many visitors could be. And I believe her."
"I suppose we can do that. It would be a small price to pay for the ore."
"Finally, Dr. Frasier is to be the only Earth human authorized to negotiate with us. As a result, she will be allowed to visit the village any time she likes. She can also bring one guest with her if she wants."
"That is a rather odd request..." commented Hammond.
"It is not a request!" said Ameha. "It is a condition. Either you agree with it, or we bury the gate!"
Hammond thought for a second and responded "Well, we do need the ore. It beats taking it from the Goa'uld. Okay. I accept."
"Good!" replied Ameha. Turning to Janet, he asked "Could you show me more of this place?"
"I'll have to get permission from General Hammond, but I think it's possible" Janet replied.
Daniel Jackson interjected "He does come from a non-technological culture. So, he would pose no threat."
Hammond said "Okay." Everyone then left the room.
Janet and Ameha walked to the infirmary. "This," Janet said "is the base infirmary, where I work."
"It's amazing! All this stuff..." Ameha commented.
"Just the tools I use. Now, let's give you a check-up."
"Huh?" asked Ameha. "I'm not sick."
"I know," Janet replied. "But, there are certain things I know we would like to do in the future. I want to make sure we can do them without getting one of us sick. I'll run some tests. If it will make you feel better, I'll run some on myself. That way, we will both be certain there will be no problems."
The physical was a success. Ameha was in perfect health and disease-free, much to Janet's delight. Ameha soon left and returned to his world. Later that night, Janet was thinking about all the fun she had with Ameha and was wondering when she would return to his world for another visit. "This time," she thought, "I'll be prepared."
